Sports Nutrition / Athletic Performance Program
Welcome to The Organic Performance Lab! I am here to welcome you to the most comprehensive, unique and energy creating fitness and nutrition program. After seeing how so many of my patients benefited from my Organic Medicine practice, I created this original program to help athletes of all kinds.
As a marathon runner myself, I know what it takes to compete as an athlete. Whether you run races, compete in triathlons or just work out when you find time, I can significantly impact your training and conditioning. At my Organic Performance Lab, we will go way beyond traditional testing to determine how your body is working on a cellular level. This is the first program of its kind to offer both weekend warriors and professional athletes alike the opportunity to individualize fitness and nutrition. My program has several components:
Phase I: Physical Fitness Tests:
This phase consists of several different types of physical fitness tests that before now were confined to major academic settings. In our newly renovated, private, Organic Performance Lab, you will have several tests completed (all customizable for each individual fitness level):
- VO2 Max Test (Pulmonary Stress Testing)
- EKG Exercise Test (Cardiac Stress Testing)
- Cortisol Exercise Test (Hormone Stress Testing)
***This combination of Pulmonary, Cardiac and Hormone Stress Testing is unavailable anywhere else as this combination exercise stress testing is Dr. Koniver’s unique creation***
- Resting Metabolic Rate (Daily Energy Needs)
- Body Composition Analysis (Body Fat/ Muscle Mass Percentage)
After reviewing your results, I will then put together a comprehensive fitness program designed to meet your fitness goals. Some questions I will be able to answer include:
- What is your current fitness level?
- What heart rate should you aim for to lose weight vs. what heart rate you should aim for to increase endurance?
- What your resting metabolic rate is?
- How many calories you should aim for to lose/ gain weight?
Phase II:Comprehensive Lab Testing: This phase of the program involves many lab tests (see below) that are able to determine very specific and individual profiles of each athlete:
Phase III: Individualized Supplement and Nutrition Counseling: During this phase of the program, I will create a specific and individualized supplement and diet for you based upon your lab testing and the type of training you are doing:
- Which multivitamin is the right one for you?
- What combination of Omega 3,6,9 is right for you?
- Which foods should I focus on for better athletic performance?
- Which supplements are needed for peak athletic training?
- Which supplements are needed for maximum ATP production?
- Which hormones are needed to boost to improve overall endurance?
- Is any detoxification program needed?
I will provide you with a customizable workbook to keep track of your daily supplement and food intake.
This is an exciting time to get moving! Never before have you been able to learn so much about you, your body, and the way that you perform best. By utilizing all of the tools we now have available, you will be able to individualize your fitness and nutrition regimen to optimize your fitness levels.
Phase IV:Maintenance program: During this phase, I work with all of my athletes to help them maintain high levels of strength and endurance:
- Follow up visits in person and/ or on the phone (for out of town athletes) to make sure that their supplement and diet programs are producing the results desired
- Repeat testing periodically to ensure that your body and cells are improving in their energy efficiency
- Several Intravenous Nutrition Protocols are reviewed to determine if they may be beneficial to each athlete. Some examples include:
- Amino Acid IV: blend of Amino Acids and Vitamins
- Super Immuno IV: blend of vitamins, minerals, botanicals that aid in immune boosting
- Vitamin C IV: high dose Vitamin C to help cellular antioxidant capacities
