I, Laura Koniver, MD am excited to introduce Casting Transformation, a one-of-a-kind process that combines the physical, spiritual and emotional aspects of healing together in one session.
What is Casting Transformation?
Casting Transformation is a chance to sit down one-on-one with me, a physician who wants to hear what your medical journey has been up to this point, and where you want it to go. It is a chance to sit back and allow me to hear what you are going through… not just talking about your diagnosis and treatments, I want to know what this experience has been like for you, what it has meant to you, your emotional journey and how your life has been affected by it. I want to know your feelings about your condition and I want to know where you want to go next. As you tell me all about your life and your story, I will be absorbing this information and listening, holding a space for your present and your future, as I apply a warm plaster cast to your upper torso. As you release into the now, letting go of all of the weight you have been carrying on your shoulders, I want you to get everything off of your chest and into the plaster. I want to talk about what new direction you would like to take, what you’d like to create for yourself and how you will feel when you get there. Together, we will lift off this old cast, full of a story you are done with, and release it. I will physically remove the torso cast from your body, and take it from your life. It is a process that will allow you to move on, move past whatever you feel is blocking you, whether it be a disease that you do not want or a mind frame you have out grown. Let’s create a new start. Who is casting transformation for?
It is for anyone who wants to start a new story, let go of an old way of life that is not beneficial to them any more. Letting go of diseases, weight, infertility, depression… each release allows more room in your life for a new, more fulfilling story to begin.
How long does the procedure take?
The entire appointment takes about an hour and a half. If you wish to have your casting turned into a work of art, you will come in for a second follow up appointment to pick it up about a month later.
Can I have Casting Transformation done without having the artwork made out of my cast?
Absolutely. It is the process, not the artwork, that produces results. Many choose to keep their casting to symbolize a new beginning, but it is not necessary at all to see results.
The process is what it is all about — a symbolic lifting off of you a burden you no longer wish to carry. It can stop there, or I can take it one step further and actually create a meaningful work of art from your casted torso. Many patients appreciate this extra step and desire to hang their casting up in their home, a personal trophy, a celebration of shedding the old and welcoming the new. The process itself is complete without the art, the act of sharing your path and creating space in your life for a new direction to evolve is what the lifting off of the cast is all about. All of the wonderful things I have seen happen to patients after the process all happened before their artwork was ever completed. But I love the idea of something unwanted becoming something cherished… that we can love all parts of ourselves, even the parts that we no longer need any more. I love taking a casting, so filled with personal pain and life battle wounds, and turning it in to something that can be cherished. I love filling a patient’s artwork up with all the souls that are meaningful to them, and adding affirmations that speak to their heart.
Cost:
The visit can be filed through health insurance, or if you prefer, the self pay price is $65 for the procedure. If you wish to have your casting turned into artwork, there is an additional $75 to cover the cost of the materials.
